Opt Hire has supported a number of clients in Queensland with innovative site security solutions using sustainable CCTV technology to minimise theft and reduce operational downtime.
  • The Challenge

Opt Hire’s Queensland-based client was experiencing frequent theft and damage problems on site. Regular break-ins into containers and theft of valuable assets and fuels was severely impacting daily operations, often resulting in site closures of up to three days.
  • SOLUTION

Engaged to install CCTV cameras, as the obvious solution to the problem, Opt Hire took a more intelligent approach to implementing anti-theft measures. The team took the opportunity to undertake a holistic site review. The assessment of all probable factors led to the consideration of the use of portable CCTV units that draw power from solar rather than conventional power sources.

Next came the design of a unique bracket that could mount a CCTV unit onto Opt Hire’s 120-watt Telescopic Solar Powered Lights. In consultation with the client, a highly portable, dual-purpose unit was deployed, acting as both a light source and security monitor.

Opt Hire took the extra step of incorporating cameras onsite to further minimise the site footprint. With a new innovative solution in place, Opt Hire also included a free one month trial of system capabilities as added reassurance.

  • RESULTS

Opt Hire’s CCTV solution provided real-time access to site activities after hours. This, in turn, improved site security and minimised incidents of theft. It’s a great example of how smart innovation results in successful outcomes. Further, it demonstrates that an increase in site offering does not always mean an increase in costs, footprint, or site emissions. Opt Hire’s CCTV system was so successful that another 30 units were requested for sites across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
